My question concerns the length of the brake booster push rod.

I am finally left with one possible issue to address and I need a question answered. After checking and testing I have determine the brake booster is working fine as is the vacuum check valve. I suspected the brake booster and used the trouble shooting methods described in results from my search and as described in the manual. I tried using a method that called for disableing the front brakes (bench bleeding procedure) while bleeding the rears and then disableing the rears as I bled the fronts. I bled the wheels starting at the left rear then the right rear then the right front and finally the left front as instructed by the information located in the manual and information gained from the search. I then bled it again using the " in car" bleeding procedures I located using the search functions. I bench bled the master cylinder as per the instructions provided with the new unit. I have bled the brakes at least 5 times now using several different methods decribed in the manual and results from searching for brake bleeding. The brakes are reacting exactly as they did before I installed all of the new stuff. That is until last week.Īnyway I decided to fix the brakes and I installed new rotors, a new right side brake caliper (the old one would not retract and was dragging) and a new master cylinder. I never got around to fixing it because I am lazy (I guess) and the brakes were working.

I suspected the master cylinder was leaking into the brake booster and the fluid was being sucked into the engine. I did notice the engine would smoke white smoke after It had been sitting long enough for the fluid to leak out of the master cylinder. I have noticed that during cold weather the brake fluid would leak from the master cylinder and I could never find a leak at either the master cylinder or any of the wheel cylinders. The other day I was trying to slow down to make a turn and I hit the brakes and the brakes woulden't lock up, the pedal depressed, the car slowed down but it felt like really bad brake fade. I have been working on my brakes now for a week without any success and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions that can explain why the brakes aren't working.īrakes will not lock up.
